Campus Tutoring Programs
American River College Offers Many Tutoring Centers Around Our Campus and Online.
Student Services Resource Center
Student Services Resource Center (SSRC) provides the Math Success Project (MSP), Drop-In, and Individual tutoring for EOP&S/CARE/NextUp, CalWORKs, DSPS and Veterans Students. The tutoring center can assist you with development of learning, problem-solving, and study strategies and improving your academic skills.
Beacon Program
The Beacon program provides academic assistance via regularly scheduled, out-of-class, peer-facilitated group study sessions. Beacon tutors are key people in the program; ARC faculty recruit the tutors. The tutors have demonstrated competence in the course(s) they tutor and are trained to facilitate learning.
Reading Across the Disciplines (RAD)
RAD works with students in small group sessions to help them improve their classroom performance. R.A.D. focuses on application of inferential and critical reading strategies and study skills to specific content.
Science Success Center
The Science Success Center offers individualized instruction in reading and study skills geared to support students' efforts in various science classes.
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
The STEM Center provides students with tutoring, resources, and support needed to advance academically and develop into STEM professionals. The STEM center’s core services house a number of programs to specifically support individual students, including MESA, Women in STEM, and STEM Honors.
LRC - Tutorial Center
The Tutorial Center provides individual appointment, drop-in, and online tutoring for students who need academic assistance outside the classroom. Tutoring is conducted by instructor approved peer tutors. Tutoring services are free to any ARC enrolled student.
Virtual Tutoring Center
The Tutorial Center provides individual appointment, drop-in, and online tutoring for students who need academic assistance outside the classroom. Tutoring is conducted by instructor-approved peer tutors. Tutoring services are free to any ARC enrolled student.
Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC)
Writing Across the Curriculum serves all students, including those who have little or no experience with college writing, as well as students who are already skilled writers. These courses are not a substitute for any other English course.
