Instruction Request Form

Use this form to request:

• An in-person library orientation/instruction session for your class (such as in your classroom or the library classroom L108)
• An online library orientation/instruction session for your class (such as a live Zoom session with a librarian)

ARC Library Research Tutorials in Canvas

• Self-enroll link for ARC Library Canvas Research Tutorials
  • Students can self-enroll by sharing the permalink (this enroll link does not change, even as we make updates and changes to the course). 
  • Faculty may assign the tutorials (in full or direct students to individual modules) for credit in their courses or may recommend a module to help a student gain relevant research skills. Students unlock certificates of completion for each module after passing the module's quiz with a score of 75% or more.

Note: Starting Fall 2022 the MLA and APA citation modules have been discontinued. Basic elements of APA and MLA style are taught in the newly revised Citing Sources and Avoiding Plagiarism module. If you need detailed instruction about MLA or APA for your students, we recommend the resources on our Library Citation Help page. 

The Research Tutorials page includes information for students about the ARC Library Canvas Research Tutorials, as well as:

• Short video tutorials; if you use Canvas, consider adding links or embedding them in your course. You can use the Instruction Request Form to request specific tutorials for your class assignment(s). Please allow at least two weeks for the creation of customized instructional materials.
• Online copies of handouts

For questions about accessing films through the library ARC classified professionals, faculty, or administrators can email Kate Williamson at williak2@arc.losrios.edu

• Not all films are available for libraries to license. Subscription based streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime do not have licensing options for libraries. Unfortunately there is no way for us to license orginial content from these platforms (but see Netflix information on Educational screenings of documentaries).
• We can only aquire films with closed captions.
• The purchasing of streaming film is contingent on the availability of funds. Films required for a course will be prioritized. 
• You can find films the library already provides access to through OneSearch and by searching in individual databases in the Video category of our Research Databases page. 
• See the request form for directions on how to directly request films from within Kanopy and Swank that are available through the platform, but the library has not purchased yet. (Swank and Kanopy are our best bet for licensing feature films from major motion picture studios. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of other options for streaming these types of films for libraries).

1. Print and fill out the Reserves Form
2. Bring it with the reserve item to the Circulation Desk in the library
