Monitoring Regional Air Quality

August 23, 2020

With regional air quality conditions improving, the limited amount of scheduled on-campus classes and activities that were canceled due to smoke in the region will resume on Monday, August 24 (including bookstore curbside pick-up). This does not affect any COVID-related online classes or remote operations, which will remain online and remote throughout the fall semester.

The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our top priority. If Air Quality Index (AQI) readings again reach or exceed 200 at locations in our district, we may consider more temporary suspensions of limited on-campus classes and activities.

Please follow all public health guidelines regarding smoke exposure as well as the COVID-19 pandemic and keep yourself healthy and safe.

August 20, 2020 Update

All classes and activities on all Los Rios campuses are canceled effective immediately and until further notice due to regional air quality conditions. This includes any of the very limited number of on-campus classes currently being held.

All online classes currently underway or planned to begin in the coming days will proceed as scheduled.

The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff is our top priority. Current Air Quality Index (AQI) readings are at or above 200 at locations in our district, which surpasses our standard for closing campuses to protect our campus communities.

There is currently no timetable for the re-opening of facilities. We will continue to stay in close communication with students, faculty, and staff with updates and any new information.
