Celebrating the Class of 2020

May 5, 2020

Commencement is one of the best traditions on any college campus, so we were incredibly disappointed to announce last month that the ceremony would have to be cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 public health crisis. In a recent college survey, graduating students overwhelmingly expressed little interest in holding any virtual ceremony. As a result, there will not be a 2020 graduation ceremony at American River College.

That does not, however, mean that we can’t celebrate the outstanding achievements of our graduating students this spring. The college will be mailing each and every graduating student an official commencement program, a letter from ARC President Thomas Greene, and your official Class of 2020 tassel. Additionally, all graduates will be invited to participate during the Spring 2021 in-person commencement ceremony.

We will also be creating a number of opportunities for graduates to tell their personal stories and share this experience with their classmates and loved ones on the college’s official social media channels. Make sure to follow us now on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter so you don't miss anything — and make sure to share your stories on your own social media using the #ARC2020grad hashtag.
