English 51 with a grade of "C" or better or placement through the assessment process. You will also need an email account. If you do not have one, the college will provide one for you.

The class is graded A, B C, D, or F. Grades are based on the written responses to the assignments, participation in the discussion forum, the required essay, attendance at the class orientation, and field trips. Field trips are done in cyberspace. Starting with the second assignment you will be required to find web sites that relate to the class assignment for that week. You will be asked to share the site address with your classmates, and to write a brief evaluation of the web site. Evaluating web sites is an important part of this class. Participation in the online discussion is essential. In an actual classroom, you might listen but not contribute to a discussion; in this class you are expected to make a contribution to each weekly online discussion. The essay assignment is due before the final exam. It must be done on the computer and consist of at least two pages. Write about your experience being in this class. You can email the essay, or bring it to my office.
