All Students Summer2013:

  • Welcome Back!!

  • Warning: Parking can be really bad during the first few weeks of the semester, especially due to the numerous sites of construction taking place on and around campus, which takes up some of the parking spaces for equipment, and so on!  With the construction completed on the new parking structure, parking shouldn't be too bad, but you may want to arrive early, just in case, to find a parking space!

  • Warning:  If you do not come to the first day of class you may lose your space to someone on the the wait list who does show up for class!

  • The campus imail system has recently transitioned to a Gmail system during the Spring 2013 semester.  I will try to keep you updated on this transition!

Geology 306 Students Summer 2013:

  • First day of lab: Metrics Laboratory Assignment (Summer 2013) - You will need to bring a calculator that can handle very large and very small numbers, scientific notation, etc.  For example, 1 million = 1,000,000 or 1 X 106, 1 billion = 1,000,000,000 or 1 X 109, 1 micrometer = 0.000001 or 1 X 10-6, 1 nanometer = 0.000000001 or 1 X 10-9, 1 picometer = 0.000000000001 or 1 X 10-12, 1 light year is approximately 6 trillion miles = 6,000,000,000,000 or 6 X 1012, etc.

All Students:

  • This is just a reminder that the Science Skills Center will be open for the Fall Semester.. students are taught Study Skills such as annotation of text, paraphrasing, concept mapping, graphics reading, etc, within the context of their science course. All of the homework students do comes from the text, notes and handouts of YOUR course. Research shows that students who finish the SSC have about 15-20% higher success rates than students who do not complete the course. Students are required to have 6 to 8 meetings of 20 to 30 minutes with an IA, and they must complete all of the required homework assignments.

    • If you have any questions about the Skills Center, please contact the Skills Center directly and talk to one of the IAs (484-8204 or ssc@arc.losrios.edu)

  • The ARC Career and Job Opportunity Center offers an array of resources to assist students in choosing career options, preparing for employment, and researching current job openings.

  • The campus IT department recently changed the server for our websites, which changed the addresses of most of the links included in my pages.  I have updated my website, but if you come across a link that doesn't work, please let me know, by contacting me at: borougt@arc.losrios.edu

  • All Students Spring 2013:

    • Your grades were sent to you via email.  I will not be posting grades on this website, due to security issues.  For more details, you will need to pick up your graded materials and attached progress report.

      ·        If you have any questions, please contact me via e-mail!

      ·        Please pick up your graded materials soon, since I will toss out any unclaimed materials soon to make room for Summer 2013!

  • RIP Neil Armstrong! First Man on the Moon. Aug. 5, 1930 - Aug. 25, 2012

    • Armstrong's family suggests amongst other things that "For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink."
