State No. 1 and undefeated American River College football (7-0) beat Feather River College on Saturday 44-8, and further cemented their position atop the state. Early on, it didn’t look like the game would be so one-sided, as the offense sputtered out of the gates and took a major blow when starting quarterback Tanner Trosin was taken out of the game with a sprained ankle late in the first quarter. Winning in Life

Winning is always important, but always within the context of considerations such as discipline, academics, respect for opponents, officials, etc. As educators, coaches must strive to keep winning in perspective. It (winning) should never be encouraged at the cost of sportsmanship, discipline, integrity, and the respect of opponents and coaches. The players need to be educated as to the difference of being beaten, but never losing! Teams may be defeated in an athletic contest, but neither the team nor the individuals will ever be associated with being losers!! - Jerry Haflich
