ARC WINS the Valley Conference Title

The Beavers beat the Sierra Wolverines in convincing fashion to end the season, taking a 31-0 halftime lead on the way to a 52-13 victory. By securing the win, the Beavers have become Valley Conference co-champions with Fresno City College. By virtue of the win over Fresno, the Beavers win the head-to-head tie breaker and earned the right to represent the Valley Conference in the state playoffs. The Beavers narrowly missed taking the Northern California title, losing to CCSF 41-36. Click here for game recaps.

Winning in Life

Winning is always important, but always within the context of considerations such as discipline, academics, respect for opponents, officials, etc. As educators, coaches must strive to keep winning in perspective. It (winning) should never be encouraged at the cost of sportsmanship, discipline, integrity, and the respect of opponents and coaches. The players need to be educated as to the difference of being beaten, but never losing! Teams may be defeated in an athletic contest, but neither the team nor the individuals will ever be associated with being losers!!
