Students from local schools and members of the public are invited to explore what we have available as part of our college programs.
the poster
Students in artnm356 Advanced Projects in Graphic Design worked in a competitive setting to create this year's Art + Tech poster.
The winning poster was designed by student Edward Harper and is a homage to graphic design pioneer Saul Bass:
"I got the idea for my design from Bass' 1959 graphics for Anatomy of a Murder. I enjoyed the simplicity of the design and chose it as a starting point. I wanted the poster
to be appealing, like most movie posters are,
but to also keep a consistancy of basic, cardboard
cut-out-like shapes. I chose a black background
because the foreground colors jump out boldly when applied."
Harper will be awarded a monetary prize as part of Friday's Art + Tech Festival.

passport 2 design [p2d]
Art New Media at American River College is once again teaming up with the Sacramento Art Directors + Artists Club [adac] to present Passport 2 Design as a hands-on component of the Art + Tech Festival.
P2D will happen this year in art classroom 510 and will feature hands on DIY design projects, digital demonstrations + student and professional panels; all to showcase career options for creative students.
Art New Media professor [and publisher of Exit Strategy magazine] Aaron Winters will be giving a short talk on DIY culture at 10 am. After, participants will have tools to create [and take home] their own tees and handmade projects.
