American River College TRIO Student Support Services (TRIO SSS) Journey, STEM and Veterans programs holistically support students to achieve academic and professional success.
Federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education, TRIO SSS Journey, STEM & Veterans support first-generation students, low-income students and students with disabilities who demonstrate academic need to successfully graduate, transfer and earn a four-year bachelor’s degree.
We are a community driven program focused on increasing college retention, graduation and transfer rates of participants. We are open to students pursuing all majors with dedicated specialized programs for STEM and Veteran students.
What We Offer
TRIO Student Support Services Journey, STEM and Veterans provide in-person assistance to students at the TRIO Center located in the Welcome & Support Center building on the American River College main campus.
A familial community that supports student success through the following resources:

- Educational Enrichment Opportunities
- Financial and Economic Literacy Sessions
- Grant Aid Program
- Peer Mentor Support Groups
- Support to Complete College and Financial Aid Applications
Who Is Eligible?
Eligibility for TRIO Student Support Services is determined by federal regulations. To qualify a student must meet the following criteria:
1. Residency Status
- U.S. Citizen; or
- U.S. Permanent Resident; or
- Meet the residency requirements for Federal student financial assistance.
2. Generation, Income and Disability Status
- Be a first-generation college student; or
- Low-income individual as determined by the federal government; or
- Have a documented disability.
3. Enrollment Status
- Be enrolled at American River College.
- Pursuing a certificate, associate degree, or planning to transfer to a four-year institution
